Artists Gathering - Joy One

Joy One is the artisan who create the little skeleton. She also create other style of dolls, they will be display and can be ordered via Vevedolls.com.

She is a nice person and she told me about her story. She got into the doll industry because she liked playing with dolls. The love for playing with dolls started as early as she was sensible. It originated from the child's love for small toys. As she grew up, her mind matured, but her hobby did not grow.

When she was in elementary school, she loved to watch artistic creations and follow them after reading them. This greatly cultivated her hands-on ability. "I remember that I bought myself a rag doll once in the fifth grade. When I got home, I started to study its wiring structure. Then I took some old clothes and sewed and cut them to make her first rag doll - a fish. Probably because I showed it to an adult later and was encouraged, I immediately made a pink rabbit and gave it to a friend." She said.

In fact, her style has been changing, and the styles of dolls she makes are very different every time. She also likes to constantly try new things and will try different methods to make dolls. At this stage, she does not want her to have a specific style. Because she feels she is still young, she may stagnate once she develops a specific style. It is also possible to never maintain a specific style.
Although her style is not distinctive, the things she makes unintentionally feel that her personality is in it, that is, she has her shadow. As for the source of inspiration, she believes that being “informed” is a good way to find inspiration. Specifically, one is to see more good things, and the other is to see many good things.

She decided to study sculpture since she was a sophomore in high school because she liked toys and wanted to make her own toys, but she lacked a lot of art knowledge and hands-on experience. At that time, she thought she would be able to make beautiful dolls after studying sculpture, so she decided to enroll.
After studying sculpture, she realized that dolls are not equal to sculptures, but they can be equal to sculptures. On the one hand, she feels that most of the toys (dolls) sold on the market today cannot be regarded as sculptures, because their concepts and pursuits are completely different.

On the other hand, she feels that she can make works that are both sculptures and toys. She wants to make something that combines the two. Although it has not yet been fully realized, this must be the general direction of her creation.
Regarding her favorite works, there are actually many. Just like a child raised by yourself, it is difficult to choose your favorite. If you must choose, it should be one that she has not made yet. "As of now, there is no, too difficult to choose."she said.
The aesthetics of dolls vary from person to person, and dolls come in a huge variety of styles. She feels that there is no standardized standard for these beautiful things. As long as it is good and you like it, it is the most beautiful. She is always innovating. She thinks it's fine if you're willing to do it, but she would strongly recommend that you draw more if you want to create something interesting. It’s not that you need to have high painting skills, but that you have to be able to visualize your ideas. Whatever she can draw, she can basically make.
